Subject: Misunderstandings


Ben, saw you on FOX a few minutes ago and must say that the General who
spoke of dropping CS and other non lethal gasses in tunnels has no idea
(like most of the "experts" ) what he's talking about. Try Underground
Combat: Stereophonic Blasting,Tunnel Rats and the Soviet-Afghan War by Les
Grau (http://call.army.mil/fmso/fmsopubs/issues/undrgrnd/undrgrnd.htm). All
the info needed to fight in Afghanistan is available on the FMSO site at
http://call.army.mil/fmso/fmso.htm. I also see that Les Grau's books on the
Russian experience in Afghanistan have been posted to the sight.

You did a good job although they didn't give you much time. The good
General was very sure of himself which I suppose would impress many, but he
is wrong, wrong, wrong! If you have any contact with him perhaps you could
pass along these articles if not my words.
